On January 1, EXO's Lay released the music video for his new single, "开天 (Kai Tian)." The title, which translates to "open the sky," references the legendary axe of 盘古 (Pangu).
In Chinese mythology and Taoism, Pangu is a primordial being who is said to have separated heaven and earth. According to legend, his body later transformed into the natural features of the world, such as mountains and rivers.
The song seamlessly blends traditional Chinese instruments and sounds with modern hip-hop and dance influences—reminiscent of Lay's earlier tracks like "莲 (Lit)" and "飞天 (Flying Apsaras)." Check out the MV above!
