After teasing her participation in NBC's American Song Contest three weeks ago, AleXa finally took the stage on Monday night, the 21st of March. She was part of the first qualifying round representing Oklahoma - her home state - competing against ten other acts each representing different US states. After the jury selected the Rhode Island representative to automatically qualify for a place in the semi-finals, the remaining ten competitors will have to wait for the result of the televote to find out which additional three will also advance to the semi-finals.
The song contest is modeled after the Eurovision Song Contest, with each of the 50 US states along with Washington, D.C., American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands being represented. These 56 musical acts compete for the title of Best Original Song. After five rounds of qualifiers, 22 acts will advance to the semi-finals, which will be aired as two episodes, followed by one final.
The viewers' votes for the first qualifying round are revealed in the following episode on Monday. The voting window has already closed, but we hope the result is favorable to AleXa.
