The head judge of JTBC's upcoming breakdance competition program 'Showdown', Jay Park opened up about what breakdance really means to him in his latest interview teaser.
First, Jay Park introduced himself as, "Many people know me as a singer, a rapper, a dancer, a CEO. But my deep down in my roots, I am a b-boy."
The star then revealed, "I strongly believe that I owe everything I've gained in my life to breakdance and hip-hop. I was able to debut as an idol because I started out as a b-boy. When I was young, my one dream was to become a b-boy. I would ditch school, walk an hour and a half to a YMCA to practice. I wanted to get better, so I just practiced, every day."
Furthermore, Jay Park stated, "I owe so much to the culture of breakdance and hip-hop. I am always looking for ways to repay that debt."
Meanwhile, JTBC's 'Showdown' is South Korea's first competition program on a broadcasting station dedicated to breakdance. The program will be hosted by Jang Sung Kyu and feature judges Jay Park, J-Black, and world champion b-boy Lee Woo Sung. The crews competing on 'Showdown' include 8 of the best breakdance crews throughout Korea, including Jinjo Crew, Fusion MC, Gambler Crew, Rivers Crew, Flow XL, Emotion Crew, One Way Crew, and Soul Burnz.
Jay Park stated, "I owe so much to the culture of breakdance and hip-hop. I am always looking for ways to repay that debt."
THIS glimpse of "actualized Jay Park" is the kind of stuff that cuts the deck between the typical status quo id0l-agency CEOs, and acts, and a new game-changing generation.
