On the morning of September 20 EST, BTS attended the 76th United Nations General Assembly as guest speakers at the '2021 SDG Moment' (2021 Sustainable Development Goals Moment') session, where they addressed the assembly as representatives of today's youths, all around the world!
For this session, BTS attended the assembly both as guest speakers, and as South Korea's special envoys for future generations and culture. South Korea's president Moon Jae In personally introduced the BTS members ahead of their presentation, calling them, "the artist most loved around the world."
All seven of the BTS members stood on stage and delivered a presentation together, addressing issues including the world's response to COVID-19, today's generation of youth and their futures ahead, as well as the youth's role in advancing climate change goals.
In addition, BTS took to the stage and unveiled a historical performance of their hit single "Permission To Dance", recorded right from the United Nations headquarters in New York City!
The key message BTS stated during their presentation was this: today's youths deserve to be recognized as a "welcome generation", not a "lost generation". Do you agree with BTS's message?
Very insightful messages from the band with songs that reflect the signs of the times. BTS has always been sensitive to issues, especially those affecting the youth. It's wonderful that the most successful band right now is also the most aware of their surroundings. They have every right to be self-absorbed because of their fame, but they stay grounded and down-to-earth, and focus on what's important.
