It's not that. Anyone can wear braids. It's the fact that anyone outside of black people can use the culture, be praised for it, etc... But we still face discrimination for our hair. Their is only 19 states that passed laws in the last 3 years banning discrimination against black peoples hair. The same with hip hop music. A lot of people commenting are young, not black, and have zero clue on black people or Africa for that matter. I could care less about Jennie wearing braids, but the level of ignorance in these comments are baffling.
most of us aren't from US and we have 99 problems in our own countries , so why prioritise the problem of black americans /american culture / US life....... don't blame us for caring about our lifes/our people's life and not spending 10 hr on your problems
This is my comment to the person who said straightening hair is cultural appropriation... "No sweetie, that's incorrect. Black people have curly hair, straight, blond, blue eyes, brown eyes, etc... Africa is the blueprint for what you see today. A lot of people really don't know about Africa. So straightening hair is NOT cultural appropriation when black people were here first with everything I mentioned above."
and those are braids , there exist many braids that are not box braids or black-copyrighted braids ( like european braids for example )
