A tragic accident occurred on February 26 at around 4:20 PM in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, within the Starfield shopping mall.
A 50-year-old woman was involved in a fatal incident while bungee jumping at the 'Smon' sports experience facility on the mall's third floor.
Despite having worn safety gear, the woman did not have her carabiner (a crucial safety ring) attached, as confirmed by the police. This oversight led to a fatal 8-meter (26-foot) fall to the concrete floor below, resulting in the woman entering a state of cardiac arrest.
Despite receiving CPR, the woman was pronounced dead about an hour after the accident occurred. The police are currently investigating whether there were any lapses in safety measures at the site and are prepared to pursue charges if negligence is found to be a factor.
The police are exploring the possibility of charging the management with manslaughter if they find any evidence of negligence on their part, in response to this tragic incident. However, police stated that the investigation is still in its early stages, and thus, they cannot provide further specific details at this time.
It’s already negligence if she didn’t have that safety ring.
