Taste the Deliciousness of Korean Noodles with These 9 Must-Try Dishes

AKP STAFF

South Korea is known for having some of the best food in the world. Korean cuisine is typically made with simple ingredients like garlic, sesame oil, and gochujang (Korean red pepper chili paste), and is usually served with a bowl of rice and side dishes. However, in this chilly season, there's nothing quite like a warm, comforting bowl of noodles! That's why we've compiled a list of nine of the best Korean noodle dishes to try.

1. Kalguksu (칼국수): Also known as Korean knife-cut noodles, this dish is a light, refreshing noodle soup made with wheat flour noodles, a yummy chicken broth, and chunks of zucchini and shredded chicken. Who says simple can't be delicious?

2. Sujebi (수제비): Hand-torn noodles, sujebi is a classic Korean dish often times eaten in winter. What makes this dish so special is that every restaurant has its own secret to the homemade dough that's used to create the noodles

3. Jjamppong (짬뽕): If you're a seafood lover, then this one is for you! A medley of seafood with mushrooms and vegetables further enriches the broth, making this noodle dish full of flavor and taste

4. Jjajangmyeon (자장면): Seen in almost every drama, many people know the famous black bean noodle dish. If you've never had this, don't let the color scare you away! It's one of the most delicious and convenient dishes to try!

5. Japchae (잡채): Glass noodles with an array of vegetables all stir fried together in a yummy soy sauce base. Japchae is a traditional Korean noodle dish that's often eaten during Lunar New Year

6. Janchi Guksu (잔치국수): Known as banquet noodles, this dish is made with anchovy broth with very stick-thin noodles. Often served with pieces of crisp seaweed and an array of vegetables like zucchini, carrots, and potatoes

7. Kongguksu (콩국수): So this dish isn't necessarily warm, but it's actually pretty unique. Known as cold soy milk noodle soup, this dish actually takes a really long time to make because the soybeans are milled by hand for hours to make the tasty white broth

8. Naengmeyon (냉면): Another dish that isn't warm but it's quite delicious! Naengmyeon is a Korean cold noodle dish made of buckwheat and sweet potato starch noodles. It is served in a cold dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth or chilled beef broth. The noodles are usually topped with cucumber, boiled egg, pickled radish, and sometimes beef. The combination of the cold broth and the chewy noodles makes it refreshing! Also, many people add yellow mustard and Vinegar to the broth to make it fit their taste. There is also a bibim naengmyeon made gochujang (red pepper paste

9. Ramen: What's more famous than a good bowl of warm instant ramen noodles? South Korea is known to be the instant noodles capital with such a wide variety of ramen. There are different types of ramen including pork, soy, and red chili paste just to name a few. Even within their grocery stores, there are whole aisles solely dedicated to an array of ramen

There is a cold noodle place in Gangnam that Taeyang likes. I visited and it's really good. The place is super clean and servers are extremely nice. Recommend for any Big Bang fans who like cold noodles. ☺️
