Kim Jung Ju, the Billionaire founder of Nexon, one of the largest gaming companies, passed away at the age of 54.
According to industry sources, on March 1, it was confirmed that Nexon founder Kim Jung Ju died in Hawaii. Born in 1968, the late Kim Jung Ju graduated from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Seoul National University.
After graduating, he obtained a master's degree in computer science from the renowned Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Thereafter, he began a doctoral program at the school but quit six months later and founded Nexon in 1994.
Founder Kim Jung Ju, who showed extraordinary abilities not only in developing games but also in mergers and acquisitions, is the person who raised Nexon into one of the leading game companies in Korea.
NXC, the parent company of Nexon, stated, "We ask for your understanding that we cannot explain in detail because the bereaved family is going through a devastating situation. However, the deceased has been receiving treatment for depression. Unfortunately, his condition worsened recently."
They added, "We sincerely hope that you will consider the hearts of the bereaved families."
