If you followed the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, then you'll know that the hate that followed 18-year-old Adelina Sotnikova after her gold medal win in figure skating was pretty intense. That hate especially came from Kim Yuna fans, who believe that she had been cheated of her win.

In a recent interview with Russian magazine 'Argumenti y Fakti', Sotnikova discussed the hate she received, particularly from South Korea. According to Korean media outlet 'Insight', Sotnikova reportedly said, "Koreans' trashy, vulgar comments have made a mess of my SNS account." She continued, "Even so, I wish those people happiness."
Despite her wish, Korean netizens were brutal in their response, telling Sotnikova that she deserved whatever hate she got. Top netizen comments include, "Because her [lack of] skating ability might show, she's just saying people's words are trash during a time when she can't properly show us up," "In her own actual trashy behavior she must not notice anything but her gold medal," "Go in here, it's your home (includes picture of a trashcan)," and, "We're just throwing trash in the trashcan, what's the problem?"
Although it has been almost a year since the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, it looks like the frost left over after the event won't be going away anytime soon.
