Singer Hwa Sa opened up about the idea of a ‘Good Goodbye’ following hints of a breakup with her 12-year-older businessman partner.
On October 22, Hwa Sa appeared as a guest on SBS PowerFM’s 'Cultwo Show,' alongside comedian Hong Yoon Hwa.
Recently, Hwa Sa released her new single 'Good Goodbye,' actively promoting it across various platforms. The song, a ballad blending rhythmic melodies with Hwa Sa’s emotive vocals, was co-written and composed by the singer herself. Its lyrics, which reflect on past love while sincerely wishing happiness for an ex, have resonated with many listeners and received praise for their heartfelt message. During the show, Hwa Sa introduced the song as her own unique style of ballad.
She explained, “The title means a 'Good Goodbye.’ When I first wrote the song, many people asked me, ‘Can a good goodbye even exist? I’ve never experienced one, so I don’t understand.’ But after releasing it, a lot of listeners said they could receive the message positively, even if they haven’t personally experienced a good goodbye. That made me feel proud.”
Host Kim Tae Gyun asked, “Have you experienced a good goodbye yourself? In romantic relationships, it seems almost impossible.”
Hwa Sa confidently replied, “I think it’s possible.” Kim Tae Gyun added, “I think it can happen. Sometimes, even if you love someone, the relationship may be stressful. In that case, breaking up might be for the best.”
Hwa Sa had previously sparked dating rumors in 2023, reportedly in a five-year relationship with a businessman 12 years her senior. At the time, her agency stated that they could not confirm the relationship due to privacy reasons.
This year, she further hinted at the breakup during a guest appearance on Park Na Rae’s YouTube channel Na-rae Sik, alongside model Han Hye Jin , saying, “The three of us are all single now,” suggesting that the relationship had ended.
