A controversy has sparked online after a sexually explicit AI-altered version of the 'KPop Demon Hunters' soundtrack was circulated on platforms such as YouTube and online communities. The manipulated video featured an edited version of the original track “Soda Pop,” with vulgar and sexual lyrics added through artificial intelligence.
The video was posted with hashtags related to 'KPop Demon Hunters,' making it easily accessible to young audiences. Concerns have since grown about its potential negative influence on children.
On August 1st, the project's Art Director addressed the issue via social media, expressing deep disappointment: “I’m very disappointed by those choosing to consume children’s content in such a way,” the director wrote. “I have forwarded all the links and materials you sent me to Netflix.”
They confirmed that the original video has since been taken down, stating, “We confirmed the problematic video has been made private.”
The director also warned of legal action: “If you come across reuploads or copies of the video, please let me know. I will forward them again to Netflix’s legal team.”
The original uploader has since deleted their YouTube channel. However, another user restored and reuploaded the altered video before eventually issuing an apology.
This incident has reignited discussions about the ethical risks of AI-generated content and the importance of safeguarding youth-friendly media from inappropriate reinterpretation.
