Rapper Dok2 (35, legal name Lee Joon Kyung), who was previously listed as a major tax delinquent by the National Tax Service, has fully paid off his outstanding taxes.
According to reports on June 2nd, Dok2 recently settled approximately 672 million KRW(~488,000 USD) in unpaid taxes, which includes income tax and health insurance premiums.
In 2022, Dok2 was named on the National Tax Service’s list of habitual high-value tax delinquents after failing to pay about 300 million KRW in comprehensive income tax. In 2023, he also came under scrutiny for being behind on 22 million KRW in health insurance premiums.
Dok2 debuted in 2005 and gained widespread popularity as a producer on Mnet’s hip-hop competition program ‘Show Me the Money’. He was known for flaunting his wealth on TV, showcasing luxury cars and stacks of cash—making the revelation of his tax delinquency particularly controversial.
A pioneering figure in the Korean hip-hop scene, Dok2 co-founded the underground label 'ILLIONAIRE RECORDS' with rapper The Quiett in January 2011. After rapper Beenzino joined, the label soared in influence, ushering in a new era for Korean hip-hop and building a loyal fan base known as the “Illionaire gang.” However, 'ILLIONAIRE RECORDS' officially disbanded in 2020.
