Former The Boyz member Ju Hak Nyeon has stepped up to defend his case with a statement shared via his SNS on June 20 KST.
Previously on June 18 KST, The Boyz's label One Hundred announced Ju Hak Nyeon's exit from his team and from the management agency after it was revealed that the idol had been spotted at a drinking gathering in Tokyo, Japan with former AV actress Asuka Kirara. Ju Hak Nyeon then spoke up a day later, admitting that he had been at the bar with Asuka Kirara, but denying engagement in any illegal activities including the solicitation of prostitution. However, on the same day, a request was filed with the Seoul Gangnam Police Office to investigate Ju Hak Nyeon for soliciting prostitution overseas.
Now, Ju Hak Nyeon has spoken up again with the following statement:
"Hello. This is Ju Hak Nyeon.
Despite my previous statement denying any involvement in any illegal activity, there are some reporters and media outlets continuously publishing malicious news about me. Regarding these reporters and media outlets, I intend to pursue legal action through both civil and criminal courts.
If there is any evidence that I solicited prostitution, please reveal the evidence immediately. Furthermore, I would like to clarify that I never left my team, nor did I ever agree to terminate my exclusive contract.
The company is currently fabricating this incident to make it seem as if there is a valid reason for the termination of my exclusive contract when in reality, there is no valid reason. At the same time, the press is severely tarnishing reputation by claiming that I solicited prostitution with no evidence to support such claims.
The company has demanded that I leave and pay damages totaling 2 billion KRW (~ $1.46 million USD); but I never agreed to any of it. And yet, according to the information provided to the press, my exclusive contract has already been terminated. This is entirely false.
I would like to ask if it is truly acceptable behavior for a management company, whose duty is to protect its artist, to drive out an artist from his team simply for the reason that he attended a private gathering with a famous individual, and to further pressure that artist to terminate their contract and pay 2 billion KRW in damages.
When I refused to agree to the termination of my contract, the company proceeded to ignore the termination procedure outlined by the contract, instead forwarding me a legal document claiming that the contract was terminated as a result of my wrongdoing. It even warned me about the damages I would owe.
In truth, I am very afraid. But if I am beaten down here and now, then this society will become a place where the weak and the powerless must succumb to defeat even when they are not guilty of any of the accusations raised against them.
I have withheld all this time, believing that the truth will be told. However, in the face of such attempts to ostracize someone over inaccurate allegations, I realized that I could not stay silent.
Therefore, I intend to make both the company which unfairly cast me out and terminated my exclusive contract on baseless grounds, and the media outlets which defamed me and accused me of soliciting prostitution, take full responsibility for their actions.
No matter what shape it takes, I intend to pursue this through until the end so as to uncover the truth.
Hoping that this battle will be a glimmer of hope for someone out there, I will summon my courage."
