
Actors Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo are finally teaming up in Netflix's newly confirmed series 'Show Business' (working title). The series, set in Korea’s entertainment industry during the 1960s to 1980s, tells the story of people striving for success despite hardships and violence dominating the era.
The script is written by acclaimed screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung, known for her works such as 'Our Blues', 'Dear My Friends', 'It's Okay, That's Love', and 'That Winter, the Wind Blows'. The series has already garnered significant attention. Lee Yoon Jung, the director of hit dramas like 'Coffee Prince', 'Cheese in the Trap', and 'Heart to Heart', will direct, further heightening expectations.
Song Hye Kyo, who has delivered memorable performances in 'The Glory', 'Encounter', and 'Descendants of the Sun', will play Min Ja, a resilient woman who endured a difficult childhood. Looking for opportunities in the Korean music industry, she takes bold risks to pursue her dreams. This is Song Hye Kyo's third collaboration with Noh Hee Kyung.
Gong Yoo, known for impactful roles in 'Goblin', 'Train to Busan', and 'The Silent Sea', will portray Dong Gu, Min Ja's childhood friend. Together, they face various challenges and eventually enter the music industry. Dong Gu is a loyal character who would do anything for Min Ja. Fans are especially excited about Gong Yoo's reunion with Lee Yoon Jung, their first collaboration since 'Coffee Prince'.
Kim Seol Hyun will play Min Hee, Min Ja's complex friend who shares a love-hate relationship with her. Cha Seung Won, known for his charismatic presence in 'Night in Paradise' and 'Believer 2', will take on the role of Gil Yeo, a legendary composer whose work shaped the careers of many successful singers. Lee Ha Nee will portray Yang Ja, Min Hee's mother, a determined woman chasing her dream of becoming a singer despite financial struggles and harsh realities.
With a trusted creative team and a powerful cast, 'Show Business' is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix, raising high expectations among global audiences.
