Song Hye Kyo's transformation has paid off. The film 'The Priest 2: Dark Nuns' (directed by Kwon Hyuk Jae) has climbed to the top of the ticket reservation rankings.
According to the Korean Film Council's Integrated Ticketing Network, 'The Priest 2: Dark Nuns' recorded a real-time reservation rate of 19.4% as of 8 AM on January 16, ranking first overall.
With eight days remaining before its release, the film has already garnered 52,585 advance ticket reservations. The intriguing theme of "exorcism by nuns" and the acting ensemble of Song Hye Kyo, Jeon Yeo Been, and others have heightened audience anticipation.
'The Priest 2: Dark Nuns' is the second story in the series following 'The Priests' (2015). It portrays individuals performing a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by an evil spirit.
Song Hye Kyo takes on the lead role of Sister Eunia. While she appears cold and detached on the surface, her character is driven by a desperate determination to save the boy.
The chemistry between Song Hye Kyo and Jeon Yeo Been is a key highlight of the film. Jeon Yeo Been plays Sister Michaela, who rebels against Eunia but is also drawn to her. Additionally, Lee Jin Wook plays Father Paolo, who believes that medical treatment, not exorcism, is the only way to save the boy. Moon Woo Jin portrays Hee Joon, the boy in peril.
Meanwhile, 'The Priest 2: Dark Nuns' is set to hit theaters on January 24.
