Actor Song Joong Ki has finally shared his thoughts on the disappointing box office performance of his latest film and burst into tears

On the 12th, a post-screening Q&A event for the movie 'Bogotá' was uploaded on YouTube. The cast, including Song Joong Ki, Lee Hee Joon, and Lee Sung Min, attended the screening event to explain the film and engage in a Q&A with the audience.

Lee Sung Min candidly shared his feelings, saying, "When I arrived here, the parking lot was empty—it broke my heart. There hardly seem to be any people in the theater. There could be many reasons, but when actors see empty theaters, it’s really tough. When a film is released during such a time, it honestly makes you want to die."

Song Joong Ki nodded silently as Lee Sung Min spoke each word.

Lee Sung Min continued, "Still, as actors, this is something we have to endure. Please support our film until the end so we can wrap things up well."

Lee Hee Jun added that 'Bogotá' is a cherished project that finally premiered after five years, having endured the COVID-19 pandemic. He pleaded, "We know it won’t hit 10 million viewers, but it has fallen short of our expectations. I felt the significance of this moment as I greeted each of you here today. Please continue to show your interest."

Finally, Song Joong Ki took the microphone. "As my senior said, Korean cinema is in a really tough spot right now. Honestly, I’m just grateful that our film is being screened at all. I’ve worked harder than ever to promote it. I wanted people to know about it, and I wanted to present it well. Even though the film industry is struggling, the role of actors is to create good content that comforts audiences and makes them laugh during difficult times. We will continue to pour our hearts into creating various works that give people strength."

Midway through his speech, Song Joong Ki became emotional, his voice trembling as he said, "Talking about this makes me choke up..." After a brief pause to gather himself, he concluded with a heartfelt "Thank you," with his eyes filled with tears.

Released on December 31 of last year, 'Bogotá' is in dire straits. As of January 15, the cumulative audience count stands at 400,000, a long way from its break-even point of 3 million viewers.
