Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’ has continued the show’s legacy of immense success, quickly acquiring countless achievements in viewership numbers, ratings, and revenue. The show recently made headlines as it became the most viewed show ever in Netflix’s history, reaching number 1 in all 93 countries on the charts.
Now, Squid Game’s impact has also boosted Netflix’s success in Korea as a whole. Netflix has now reached a record number of app users, with 9.75 million people in Korea now using the Netflix app. Comparatively, the week before Squid Game’s release showed a userbase of only 7.88 million in Korea. This marks an increase of almost 2 million app users, directly connected with ‘Squid Game’ season 2’s release.
In total, the analysis included 51.2 million smartphone users in Korea (out of a total population of 51.7 million), meaning that nearly 20% of Koreans now use the Netflix app.
As ‘Squid Game’ approaches its third and final season, it continues to add to its long list of achievements and records. The show has arguably attained a level of success never-before-seen in Netflix’s history.
