IVE’s Jang Won Young shared her thoughts on the viral ‘Lucky Vicky’ meme.

On the tvN show 'You Quiz on the Block,' which aired on the 15th, IVE members Jang Won Young and Ahn Yu Jin appeared to discuss their recent comeback with a new song.

During the episode, Jang Won Young addressed the support for the ‘Lucky Vicky’ meme, also known as ‘Won Young-style thinking.’ She explained, “It was such a natural and everyday thought for me. I didn’t think it was anything special.”

She went on to describe the origin of ‘Lucky Vicky,’ saying, “My English name is Vicky. This happened during a tour when I visited Spain. At that time, I waited a long time at a famous bakery, but all the bread in front of me was sold out. They told me that if I waited a little longer, fresh bread would come out. I thought, ‘That’s Lucky Vicky,’ because I could eat freshly made bread. I shared that story with my fans, and from then on, ‘Lucky Vicky’ spread instantly and became a popular meme.”

Jang Won Young elaborated on its meaning: “‘Lucky Vicky’ is such a positive way of thinking that some might confuse it with self-rationalization. However, for me, it’s about finding small happiness in everyday life and being grateful for those moments.”

She also reflected on her optimistic outlook, saying, “I’ve lived like this since I was young. I’m naturally an optimistic person. Rather than dwelling on bad situations, I think about what comes next, like, ‘What’s the next step?’ I’ve never been stuck in negativity for long. The saying, ‘This too shall pass,’ really resonates with me.”
