Yoo Jae Suk addresses current presidential impeachment crisis at 'Pinggyego Awards'

Yoo Jae Suk addressed the ongoing political turmoil following the declaration of martial law.

On December 22, the YouTube channel ‘DdeunDdeun’ released the ‘2nd Pinggyego Awards.’ As the host, Yoo Jae Suk delivered a thoughtful closing speech after the awards were presented, capturing the attention of viewers. 

He remarked, "I sincerely thank the many members who have supported and nurtured Pinggyego over the past year. Thanks to our guests this year, we were able to bring laughter to so many people."

He continued, "As you know, the current situation is unpredictable. It’s truly frustrating at times, but with the new year just around the corner, I firmly believe that the fog surrounding us will clear and that the day will come when we regain our peaceful daily lives."

The speech came in the context of recent political events. On December 3, President Yoon Suk Yeol declared and later lifted emergency martial law, sparking an impeachment crisis. The National Assembly passed the impeachment motion within two weeks, but tensions remain high as the Constitutional Court’s final ruling is still awaited.

Yoo Jae Suk’s program 'Pinggyego' postponed the scheduled release of its "Punghyang-go" video by a week in response to the aftermath of martial law. The entertainment industry has also felt the impact, with numerous dramas and variety shows taking unplanned breaks as they closely monitor the evolving situation.

Meanwhile, the ‘2nd Pinggyego Awards’ achieved remarkable success, amassing over 1 million views within just six hours of its release.
