Suzy recently underwent a cosmetic procedure on her eye.
On December 1, industry insiders noted that Suzy’s clear, bright eyes at the recent Celine flagship store photo call event became a hot topic. A mole-like spot near her iris, which had been visible for years, was noticeably absent.
Media reports revealed that Suzy underwent a procedure to remove a conjunctival nevus, a pigmented spot on the sclera caused by an overproduction and accumulation of melanin cells. These spots often develop around the iris and are typically acquired over time.
Conjunctival nevi are more commonly seen among Asians, who have relatively higher melanin cell activity compared to other populations. In South Korea, it is estimated that about 1 in 2,500 people have this condition.
Although conjunctival nevi rarely pose risks to eye health, such as vision impairment or discomfort, many individuals choose to remove them for cosmetic reasons. The removal process is straightforward and can be completed in 5 to 10 minutes using a laser or chemical peel.
Factors such as prolonged contact lens use, UV exposure, wind, fine dust, and eye trauma can contribute to the formation of these spots. Experts recommend avoiding frequent eye rubbing and using protective eyewear to minimize risks.
