SM Entertainment has shared a public update on the legal actions involving malicious comments against Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon.
On December 3, the agency provided detailed information about the ongoing legal proceedings concerning defamatory posts, insults, and sexual harassment directed at the artist. According to SM, they have gathered "thousands of pieces of evidence" of such malicious activity through fan reports and internal monitoring.
The evidence spans numerous platforms, including Naver, Daum (Women’s Generation, Mixed Martial Arts, Soul Dresser, Dotax, etc.), Nate Pann, DC Inside, Instiz, MLB Park, X (formerly Twitter), DC Inside galleries (Other Drama Gallery, Female Celebrities Gallery, Male Celebrities Gallery, Billboard Gallery, Circle Chart Gallery, K-Pop Gallery), Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Ilbe, BobaeDream, FM Korea, and more.
SM stated: "Based on this evidence, we have filed hundreds of complaints with investigative agencies for offenses such as defamation and insults. We can confirm that investigations are underway for many of the identified offenders."
Two recent cases concluded with notable outcomes:
1. "Conditional suspension of indictment with a requirement to complete educational sessions at the Probation Office."
2. "Case closure due to the death of the accused."
The company added that past cases involving juvenile offenders were resolved through apologies submitted with their parents’ involvement, while adult offenders faced penalties such as fines or conditional suspensions of indictment.
SM reiterated their commitment to pursuing these cases, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward malicious rumors, defamatory posts, and character attacks against Taeyeon. They wrote: "We will not grant leniency under any circumstances and will do our utmost to protect our artist."
