SBS and global entertainment giant Netflix have formed a strategic partnership to bring Korean content to audiences worldwide.

The partnership was formalized at a signing ceremony held at the SBS Broadcasting Center in Mokdong, Seoul. Bang Mun Shin, President of SBS, and Kang Dong Han, Vice President of Korean Content at Netflix were present at the event. The collaboration aims to create a win-win synergy, with SBS expanding its content globally and Netflix enhancing its subscription value by offering diverse experiences to its members.

Through the agreement, SBS will be providing new and existing dramas, variety shows, and cultural shows through Netflix in Korea. Additionally, SBS will launch simultaneous global releases of new dramas through Netflix starting next year.

Popular SBS programs such as 'Running Man,' 'Unanswered Questions,' 'The Story of the Day When the Tail Was Bitten,' 'Inkigayo,' and 'Kick a Goal' will be available on Netflix beginning next year. Additionally, iconic past dramas like 'Sandglass,' 'Hot Stove League,' and 'The Penthouse' will also be accessible through Netflix.

Furthermore, Netflix will provide subtitles and dubbing in various languages, along with localized promotional and marketing campaigns, playing a crucial role in bolstering the competitiveness of K-content.

SBS has long pursued the global expansion of K-content by leveraging its expertise in producing high-quality content. Much like the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) secured global competitiveness through its partnership with Netflix, SBS has made a decisive move to broaden its reach. Netflix, in turn, will expand its library of Korean content, offering both domestic and international subscribers more diverse choices, and enhancing the overall value of its platform.

Kang Dong Han, VP of Netflix, remarked at the signing ceremony, "This collaboration with SBS marks a new milestone in showcasing the excellence of Korean storytelling to a global audience. We hope the innovative vision of SBS and Netflix’s passion for Korean content will usher in a new golden age of K-content that lasts for more than 100 years."

Bang Mun Shin, President of SBS, commented, "This partnership is based on SBS’s future strategy of ‘Beyond Terrestrial TV, Toward Global.’ Through this collaboration with Netflix, global audiences will gain even more access to K-content, further contributing to its globalization." He added that the partnership would create new opportunities for both SBS and Netflix, particularly in increasing audience engagement.

This strategic alliance marks a significant step forward in sharing the appeal and creativity of K-content with the world.
