The topic of Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon's plans for children has resurfaced following remarks from Lee Sang Soon's mother. On November 29th, the YouTube channel 'Life Is nothing' released a video titled "Hyori, Sang Soon, I’ve Given Up Now." The video featured Lee Sang Soon's mother, who shared her candid thoughts about her daughter-in-law and their family plans.

Recalling her first impression of Lee Hyori, she said, "When Hyori first came to our home, I liked her because she was the woman my son loved. But since she was such a celebrity, I did feel a bit overwhelmed." However, she added, "Hyori is incredibly honest and knows how to create a comfortable atmosphere. She doesn’t hold back her thoughts, which makes it easy to accept her."

When asked about her desire for grandchildren, Lee Sang Soon’s mother shared, "Of course, it would be wonderful to have grandchildren, but at this point, I’ve made peace with the idea. When I visited their new home recently, it was so spacious and beautiful. I told Hyori, 'A baby would fit perfectly here,' and she agreed, saying, 'You’re right, Mother.' While I’ve let go of the expectation, I’m not sure if they have completely given up yet."

Lee Hyori has previously spoken openly about her desire for children. In 2020, during her appearance on MBC's 'Hangout with Yoo' as a member of SSAK3, she shared her plans to conceive and jokingly requested a box of pregnancy tests as a parting gift. Later, on the same show as a member of 'Refund Sisters', she confessed, "It’s a secret, but I’m preparing for pregnancy. If it happens, this group will have to disband immediately."

Two years later, during an appearance on MBC Every1's 'That Man Who I Remember', Lee Hyori opened up about her struggles with infertility. She said, "I don’t want to go as far as undergoing IVF. If it happens naturally, I’ll be grateful, but it hasn’t been easy."

In May 2023, during JTBC’s 'Mom, Will You Go on a Trip with Me?', Lee Hyori expressed her thoughts while watching children playing. She remarked, "I’d love to have a daughter like that, already grown up and independent." When her own mother encouraged her, saying, "You should try to have one," Hyori responded, "It’s too late now."

Her mother, however, replied, "You should at least put in as much effort as others before giving up." Despite this, Lee Hyori remained firm, reiterating, "I don’t want to try IVF."
