Korean netizens have recently brought attention to the controversial past of actor Song Young Chang, who appeared in the highly anticipated second season of 'Squid Game.'
The resurfacing of Song Young Chang's criminal history has sparked discussions in various online communities and brought renewed shock over the severity of his crime.
Based on the community post, back in September 2000, Song Young-chang reportedly paid 150,000 KRW (approximately 102 USD) for sexual encounters with a 16-year-old girl on two separate occasions in his car. This incident made Song the first person in the Korean entertainment industry to be convicted of such a crime. As a result of his conviction, Song received a 10-month suspended prison sentence and two years of probation.
Following this last revelation, many are expressing much shock as the actor has been active in the film industry despite his criminal background, appearing in various renowned films.
The netizen who created the post explained, "After the incident, Song Young Chang primarily worked in theater, his original profession. He received permanent broadcast bans from KBS, EBS, and MBC, effectively blocking his appearances on major networks."
Shocked netizens commented:
"Seriously, Squid Game never seems to have anything good going for it, starting with the casting."
"Wow, this guy."
"Why would they use someone like that? Disgusting."
"Why even watch Squid Game 2? I dropped it as soon as the casting was announced, lol."
"Are there really no other actors out there?"
"The acting industry really seems to coddle criminals."
"Ugh, gross. With a 16-year-old. Psychopath."
"Hasn’t it been a while since he was on TV?"

"The higher-ups keep hiring him, so he keeps showing up. They’re accomplices."
"Now I get why Squid Game 2 is boring."
"Even just looking at the first Squid Game, you can see how the director treats women, lol."
"He even looks like a villain."
"How many criminals are in this show? Ugh."
"This is so disgusting."
"Is he crazy?"
"Well, the lead guy is famous for his DUI in the past."
"I'm not going to watch 'Squid Game'."
"Wow..."
