DJ Yesong (real name Ahn Ye Song) was given 8 years in prison for causing a deadly accident while drunk driving. On December 10, the Supreme Court confirmed her sentence, saying it followed the law for serious crimes.
In February, DJ Yesong, who had a blood alcohol level of 0.221%, hit a motorcyclist in Gangnam, Seoul. The accident resulting in the death of a 50-year-old delivery worker. Reports revealed she caused the accident while fleeing the scene of a prior collision.
In the first trial, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison because she left the scene without helping the victim and tried to run away. Both DJ Yesong and the prosecution appealed the decision. During the second trial, her sentence was reduced to 8 years after she admitted guilt and reached a settlement with the victim’s family. Despite her further appeal, the Supreme Court dismissed her case, finalizing the 8-year prison term.
