BTS's Jimin is making new history for K-pop with his unmatched records on the Spotify Korea chart.
On December 7, Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, announced that Jimin had secured his 500th No. 1 position on the "Daily Top Artist" chart for Spotify Korea.
This is the first time an artist has achieved 500 No. 1s on the chart, establishing an unparalleled record and proving his overwhelming popularity.
Jimin's dominance extends to the Weekly Top Artist chart, where he continues to break records. He recently marked his 73rd No. 1, setting the record for the most No. 1s on this chart. The title track "Who" from his second solo album 'MUSE,' released on July 19, debuted at No. 1 on Spotify Korea's Daily Top Song chart on its release day.
Despite having no official promotions, the song has held the No. 1 spot for a remarkable 144 consecutive days as of December 9, based on the most recent chart data.
Notably, the song that holds the record for the longest No. 1 reign on Spotify Korea's Daily Top Song chart is Jimin's title track "Like Crazy" from his first solo album 'FACE,' which remained at the top for a total of 268 days. Following the title track is "Who", with 144 consecutive days at No. 1. As a result, Jimin now holds the top two spots for the most No. 1 days on this chart, cementing his unprecedented status in Spotify Korea chart history.
In addition to his chart success, Jimin recently received two major awards: "2024 MAMA Visa Fans’ Choice of the Year" at the MAMA Awards and "Best K-Pop" at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).
To celebrate Jimin's monumental achievements, his fans have been engaging in various heartwarming charitable acts and celebratory events.
Fans from Jimin's Indonesian fanbase (JVWForJimin), along with other supporters, donated through 'Kita Bisa' to support the educational expenses of local orphans, demonstrating Jimin's positive influence.
Additionally, to commemorate Jimin's win of the 2024 MAMA Visa Fans’ Choice of the Year, his Indonesian fans launched a large billboard advertisement on a high-rise building in Thamrin, Jakarta. The video showcased his accomplishments and celebrated his recent successes.
Even during his military service, Jimin continues to inspire through philanthropic acts. He made a 100 million KRW (~69,922 USD) donation to the 'Patriots and Veterans Love Fund,' which supports military personnel. He also donated 30 million KRW (~20,977 USD) to the 'Busan Habitat Challenge,' a project that improves housing for vulnerable elderly residents in Busan. These contributions continue to highlight Jimin's role as a model figure in the realm of social contribution.
