The value of a building owned by singer Rain and actress Kim Tae Hee in Gangnam, Seoul, has reportedly risen by at least 60 billion KRW (around 45 million USD) over three years.
According to a report by News1 on November 3rd, the building, which the couple purchased for 92 billion KRW (approximately 69 million USD) in 2021, is now estimated to be worth well over 140 billion KRW (approximately 105 million USD). The property is a commercial building with a land area of 147 pyeong (486 square meters), a total floor area of 881 pyeong (2,910 square meters), and spans 2 basement floors and 8 above-ground floors. Located near Gangnam Station, the building's prime location adds to its value.
In 2022, just one year after acquiring the property, the couple considered selling it for 140 billion KRW, drawing public attention. At the time, the ground floor had been vacant for nearly six months but gained a prominent tenant with the entry of a well-known burger brand’s flagship store, which turned the vacancy around. Currently, the building is fully occupied, providing the couple with stable rental income.
The building was purchased under shared ownership, with Rain holding 60% in his personal name and Kim Tae Hee’s corporation holding 40%. It’s estimated that they funded the purchase with a 45 billion KRW loan and paid the remaining 47 billion KRW in cash.
In addition, Rain acquired another property in January through a corporation led by his father. This property, located on Apgujeong Rodeo Street in Seoul, was purchased for around 15.8 billion KRW (approximately 12 million USD). The building has 6 above-ground floors and 1 basement floor and is situated in a bustling area with galleries, salons, and upscale restaurants.
Rain and Kim Tae Hee, who married in January 2017, have two daughters together.
