According to a November 15 KST report from Munhwa Ilbo, a female AfreecaTV BJ (streamer) is currently under investigation for allegedly extorting cash and valuables worth approximately 840 million KRW (~600,000 USD) from singer and musical actor Junsu.
On November 13 KST, the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police requested an arrest warrant for 'A,' an AfreecaTV streamer, on extortion charges. Reports indicate that 'A' first became acquainted with Kim Junsu in 2019 and began blackmailing him in September 2020 with an intimate recorded conversation between them. Threatening to leak the audio file on social media, 'A' allegedly extorted Junsu a total of 101 times, obtaining 840 million KRW (~601,323 USD).
During the investigation, 'A' reportedly confessed to committing the crime to fund drug purchases. Currently, 'A' is also on trial at the Seoul Central District Court for a separate drug-related offense.
Korean netizens were shocked by the news and reacted to the article. They commented:
"So don’t just be with anyone. Why can’t celebrities hold back and end up with just anyone..."
"It’s messy, really messy."
"There are plenty of decent women out there, so why date a BJ... sigh..."
"How did he end up with such a low-quality woman... These gold diggers should really get exposed..."
"Out of everyone, he had to go meet a BJ? Might as well go for a hostess instead, haha."
"Why are male celebrities so attracted to streamers (BJs)?"
"I’m curious—what did he even say during their sexual encounter that ended up being used as blackmail to get money out of him? Makes you wonder, lol."
"If there’s nothing to be ashamed of, why did he give her money? Just because they had a relationship?"
"He’s being extorted, and his reputation is taking a dip. This is why men have to be careful with their lower half. Someone with his experience—why did he do this?"
"How dirty could the recorded content from their sexual encounters have been for him to get extorted for 800 million KRW over five years? Tsk tsk tsk."
