On November 1 KST, an individual suspected of being a HYBE Labels employee exposed several new pages of the 'HYBE Weekly Music Industry Trend Report'.
Along with photos of their business card, the individual verified over 1,000 pages of the 'Weekly Music Industry Trend Report', which was sent to HYBE Labels employees on July 13, 2023. According to the email shared by the employee, the report was sent to HYBE executives including Bang Si Hyuk, Kang Myeong Seok, Lee Chang Woo, and more.
The individual (hereby referred to as 'A') expressed the following intentions for coming forward with the report, stating,
"I've finally mustered up the courage to upload these after exercising patience for too long. I reported it to several major media outlets. But it seems that they are unable to publish it.
Contrary to HYBE's claims that they did not use inverse viral marketing tactics, I wanted to make it known that much of the content found in these reports were actually used for inverse viral marketing campaigns.
Furthermore, these reports contain slander not only against artists, but numerous industry affiliates.
Yesterday and again today, I heard that the executives of the different labels across HYBE have reached an agreement to claim that they did not receive these reports.
However, the intention behind these reports are clear. Someone had clear intentions, and someone was ordered to compile these reports for those intentions.
I want to raise awareness to the fact that there are numerous people who read these reports, followed orders based on these reports, as well as those who turned a blind eye to what was happening for over 2 years.
Just ask HYBE. They won't be able to deny it. These are the original files.
Here's to hoping that the buzz surrounding these reports will not stop at just gossip."
Unlike pages of the 'Music Industry Trend Report' published by news outlets last week, the documents revealed by 'A' did not blot out the names of specific artists or offensive terms. Furthermore, despite the title suggesting that the report contained an analysis of weekly music industry trends, the pages themselves featured mentions of the giant panda Fubao, variety PD Na Young Suk, and more.
Following the initial shock caused by the publication of these reports, HYBE Labels CEO Lee Jae Sang issued a public apology and assured that apologies would be offered to representatives of all competing entertainment companies whose artists were mentioned. However, according to insider reports on November 1 KST, no entertainment companies have thus far been contacted by HYBE Labels for any apology.
*Translations of the newly released 'Music Industry Trend Report' exposed by 'A' will soon be updated.
