BLACKPINK's Rosé gave a response to a question regarding the current ongoing NewJeans-HYBE situation.
Rosé sat down with i-D magazine to speak about her career, life, her latest album production, and many other topics.
During the interview, Rosé revealed that she has been staying in Los Angeles for the past year, working on her solo music. She explained she has been moving around Los Angeles from hotels to Airbnb, going through a lonesome experience. She shared, "I was going back and forth from hotel to Airbnb, and that was really lonely. It’s so funny how I’ve chosen to forget the negative times – the many, many nights of me crying myself to sleep. It’s like I’m forming this – not toxic – but toxic relationship with [music], because I’m obsessed with it, and sometimes it doesn’t work, but I need it in my life.”
Despite the loneliness, she found comfort in music. She shared, "The album process was very therapeutic, it was the only place I felt sane. That’s why I did it for a year. I felt like I was being held by mum, or something. There [were] bad days when I felt like I needed that [security] back, because I know what it feels like when I’m being, like, hugged and cradled.”
While speaking of her relationship with music, the interviewer also touched upon the current hot topic in the K-pop industry. The interviewer asked Rose about her thoughts on NewJeans’ recent revolt against HYBE. According to the magazine, Rosé responded by shaking her head and replying, "I want to talk about positive things. I love those girls so much.”
Meanwhile, the feud between NewJeans and HYBE began back in April, when HYBE initiated an internal audit of ADOR, their subsidiary label that used to be led by Min Hee Jin. The audit alleged that Min Hee Jin attempted to take full control of ADOR.
The feud between HYBE and Min Hee Jin continued over the months until Min Hee Jin was officially dismissed as CEO of ADOR in August. Following Min Hee Jin's dismissal, NewJeans members conducted a surprise YouTube livestream where they proposed an ultimatum against HYBE, demanding they reinstate Min Hee Jin as CEO.
In November 13, NewJeans sent a letter to ADOR stating they would ultimately terminate their exclusive contracts if the major breaches were not rectified in two weeks.
