BABYMONSTER set to appear on Japan’s top three music programs.
YG Entertainment’s “monster rookies,” BABYMONSTER, are rapidly gaining popularity in Japan. The group is solidifying its status as a leading girl group by appearing on Japan’s top three terrestrial music shows, commonly referred to as “music programs.”
According to YG Entertainment, BABYMONSTER will begin their streak on November 29th with a live performance on TV Asahi’s flagship program ‘Music Station.’ They will then appear on NHK’s ‘VENUE101’ on November 30th, followed by Fuji TV’s ‘Weekly Ninety-Nine Music’ on December 11th. These programs are considered Japan’s “Big 3” music shows, akin to South Korea’s “Big 4” music shows, including Mnet.
On these broadcasts, BABYMONSTER will showcase their live vocal prowess, which has become their trademark, with handheld microphones. They will perform tracks from their recently released first full-length album ‘DRIP,’ singing entirely in Korean, a move expected to further highlight their unique charm.
BABYMONSTER’s first album has achieved outstanding success not only in South Korea but also in key K-pop markets like Japan and North America. In Japan, they topped the iTunes “Top Albums Chart” and the real-time Top 100 Albums Chart on Line Music, the country’s largest streaming platform. In North America, the group has stayed on the Billboard charts for three consecutive weeks.
Starting early next year, BABYMONSTER will embark on their first world tour, beginning at Seoul’s KSPO Dome and extending to North America and Japan.
