A fandom has come under fire after its administrators organized a "RIIZE is 7" chant for this year's MAMA Awards in Los Angeles.

One fandom of KATSEYE (KATSEYE News) posted on their social media account, stating, "This is not KATSEYE-related, but we encourage all EYEKONS, especially those attending the event, to read the following statement!" The post aimed to rally support for Seunghan, who recently departed from RIIZE permanently. This fandom provided the phrase and a detailed method on how to shout the chant. 

This has sparked backlash in Korean online communities.

Fans and netizens criticized KATSEYE's fandom for allegedly attempting to sabotage RIIZE's performances during the MAMA Awards with this chant.

With increased criticism, the fandom turned their social media page private and released a statement. The fandom explained, "This project was not created by us, but a lot of BRIIZE have been reaching out to us for weeks to share and we have been hesitant up-till now and this has never been a mandatory thing, just some option we were bringing to EYEKONS attention who might be attending the upcoming event."

Korean netizens who discovered the issue joined in on the criticism.

They commented:

"I figured it was that company’s doing. From the start, no fandom would go to such extremes for Seunghan… The way they’ve been so ruthless and petty in tormenting the members—turns out it’s HYBE’s anti-fans in disguise. Everyone saw this coming."

"What 'HYBE anti-fans'? It’s the same story with casual fans and overseas fans being dragged into it. HYBE is truly skilled at stirring the pot."

"HYBE is the worst of the worst. Pretending to be allies while targeting RIIZE—it’s disgusting. The more they act like this, the more damage they’re doing to themselves, but they don’t seem to realize it. So pathetic."
