Kim Byung Man has revealed his thoughts on his divorce for the first time. On October 28th, he will share his story on Channel A's 'Best Friends Documentary: Four-Person Dining Table', where he invites close friends to his water-side hideaway in Gapyeong for a special gathering.
Among the guests are actor Shim Hyung Tak, Jeon Hye Bin, and former national wrestling champion Jung Ji Hyun, who will each share their life stories and memories with Kim Byung Man. The episode also features a striking spread of "wild cuisine," including a whole roast and an array of skewers.
Known for his role in the hit 'Gag Concert' segment 'Master' and as the leader character in SBS’s 'Law of the Jungle', Kim Byung Man opened up about his journey to success as a comedian. He recalled moving to Seoul, living and working at a theater in Daehak-ro, and finally passing the comedian audition on his eighth try. He shared, “I lived in the shabbiest house in the neighborhood. I pursued my dream of becoming a comedian for my family.” He added a humorous story about encountering a security guard while living at a gym and struggling to make ends meet.
For the first time on air, Kim Byung Man also discussed his feelings about his divorce. After marrying in 2011, he and his spouse began living separately just a year later, a separation that lasted for ten years until their divorce in 2020. He revealed, “I was afraid that everything I had built during my years as an unknown comedian would collapse, so I couldn’t let go.” He continued, “Inside, I felt sad and unhappy, but I had to pretend to be happy on the outside. However, on 'Law of the Jungle,' I could focus solely on work without having to put on a smile, and that was a relief.”
The invited friends also shared updates on their lives. Actor Shim Hyung Tak spoke about his married life with his Japanese wife Saya, who is 18 years younger than him, and announced that they are expecting a child in January. He shared a behind-the-scenes story about their baby’s name that brought laughter. Jeon Hye Bin shared her happy daily life raising her two-year-old son, while Jung Ji Hyun talked about opening a wrestling gym and teaching wrestling to actors like Son Seok Koo and Heo Sung Tae.
