Comedian Jo Se Ho recently tied the knot with his non-celebrity girlfriend, nine years his junior, and has gained attention not only for the star-studded guest list but also for the lavish meals served to the 900 guests at the Shilla Hotel.
The wedding took place on October 20 at the Dynasty Hall of Seoul's Shilla Hotel, where Jo Se Ho and his bride celebrated with numerous celebrity guests. The venue featured special performances by close friends such as Kim Bum Soo, Taeyang, and Gummy, who sang congratulatory songs, while actor Lee Dong Wook delivered the wedding speech. Jo Se Ho’s mentor, Jeon Yoo Sung, officiated, and his close friend Nam Chang Hee served as the presider, adding a personal touch to the grand event.
The elaborate meal provided to guests also became a major talking point. The course menu included thyme-scented eggplant soup with feta cheese and tomatoes, grilled salmon with Pernod vin blanc, leek and fennel purée with a garden vegetable ragout, lemon sherbet, CAB tenderloin steak with port wine sauce, and a dessert of mascarpone vanilla cream with mocha mousse blancmange, followed by coffee or tea.
The Shilla Hotel’s banquet hall is known for its exclusivity, with a rental fee of around 22 million KRW (approximately $16,400), including taxes. Given that the wedding took place during peak season in October, discounts offered would be minimal. Additionally, with the meal estimated to cost 300,000 KRW (approximately $225) per person, the total cost for the food alone could have reached around 300 million KRW (around $217,000), leaving many in awe.
After the wedding, Jo Se Ho shared his gratitude through his social media, stating, "Some people thought I had already been married due to the early news, but today, we finally celebrated our wedding surrounded by so many blessings. I am deeply thankful to everyone who joined and congratulated us."
He added, "We received a lot of support throughout the planning process, and we will continue to cherish and rely on each other for the rest of our lives. Please continue to support our happy journey together."
Following the wedding, Jo Se Ho is set to enjoy a ten-day honeymoon in southern Italy before returning to his new home in Yongsan, Seoul, to begin his married life.
