On August 31st, Jang Yoon Jung faced allegations of lip-syncing during a festival performance in Incheon. However, it was clarified that she used MR, a common backing track used by many dance performers, and not mechanical lip-syncing, maintaining her pride as the 'Trot Queen.'
Additionally, Jang Yoon Jung responded coolly to concerns about the slow ticket sales for her 25th anniversary national tour, saying, "It's because my popularity isn’t what it used to be," further drawing attention with her professional attitude. She promised, "I will make eye contact with each person as I sing."
Here is TN Entertainment's full statement:
Hello, this is TN Entertainment.
First, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has shown immense support and love for our artist, Jang Yoon Jung.
There have been claims that Jang Yoon Jung lip-synced during the event held in Incheon last August. In performances where many artists have to perform choreography along with their songs, live MR (music recordings with pre-recorded backing vocals) is sometimes used depending on the situation. Jang Yoon Jung, as well, uses pre-recorded backing tracks with vocals for dance songs to help engage the audience while performing live. It's true that she occasionally receives support from these backing tracks when her condition isn’t optimal or when the venue's sound system is not perfect.
However, she has never lip-synced by merely moving her lips to a backing track.
We would like to apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable and ask for your understanding, as this was a choice made to enhance the performance. We also ask for continued understanding in the future. Jang Yoon Jung always approaches every performance with sincerity and gratitude.
As Jang Yoon Jung’s stage has been loved by many for a long time, both the company and the artist promise to listen to your voices and work towards creating even better performances.
Thank you.
