On the October 13th broadcast of SBS's 'My Little Old Boy', actress Jang Shin Young appeared as a special MC, sharing her story for the first time after going through a difficult period related to her husband Kang Kyung Joon's affair controversy.

Jang Shin Young admitted that she felt pressured during the filming due to the numerous articles that were published about her appearance on 'My Little Old Boy'. In response, the MCs and the "Mother Avengers" warmly welcomed her, sensing her nervousness. MC Seo Jang Hoon, who had spent a lot of time with Jang Shin Young on 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny', expressed genuine concern for her, likening her to a younger sister.

Regarding her decision to appear on the show, Jang Shin Young shared, "I was surprised by how many articles came out. I started to feel scared and wondered, 'Is it wrong for me to be appearing right now?' That doubt kept chipping away at my confidence."

She continued, "I hesitated and questioned myself, 'Did I make the wrong decision? Is it still too soon?' I wanted to show a better version of myself, but I ended up showing a more difficult side, which makes me feel sorry. But as an actress and someone who has been on broadcasts, I wanted to appear comfortably as a guest and hoped people would be understanding of that."

For the first time, Jang Shin Young revealed what her life has been like during the 10 months following the controversy. "To be honest, I can't say it wasn't difficult. I did go through a tough time, but I tried to regain my normal life. I made an effort to act like everything was fine, enjoying life with my children, even arguing and fussing with my husband, trying to maintain our daily routine," she said.

She further confessed, "I did lose my footing for a while, but I tried hard to return to my true self. Time has passed, and I know there's nothing I can do about what's already happened. So I started thinking about how I could rebuild my family, and I took it step by step."

There were also many unverified rumors about Jang Shin Young and Kang Kyung Joon during that time. Shin Dong Yup mentioned, "There were fake news stories saying you two had already divorced or disappeared. It must have been incredibly tough for you both." 

To this, Jang Shin Young responded, "Because we’re celebrities, we couldn’t make a public statement, and that allowed rumors to spread. It was hard because of that. My eldest child is older now, so I worried he might come across these false stories and get hurt. I told my children, 'Don't believe those fake news stories. Just look at me and listen to what I have to say.' I also stopped using the internet altogether—I deleted all the apps. As I distanced myself from it, my perspective started to broaden."

When asked how she remained steady through such a difficult time, Jang Shin Young said, "That wasn't everything to me. I was more worried about the future of our family than the idea of divorce being the end. Instead of thinking, 'I can’t live with you anymore,' I was focused on how we could overcome this so that our children could be hurt as little as possible and live happily like before. Having been through so much hardship, I realized that this wasn’t the end. I decided to untangle the threads, one by one."

Jang Shin Young shared how she was the first to reach out to her husband. "After everything happened, I couldn’t think straight—I couldn’t see anything clearly. But when I looked at my husband, he seemed completely exposed and vulnerable. It was painful for me as his wife to see him like that. So I approached him and said, 'I want to take your hand, but is that okay with you?' Kang Kyung Joon replied, 'I’m so ashamed and sorry, and I have no words, but I will apologize.' So I said, 'Okay, let’s move forward together,'" she shared, her voice breaking as she became emotional.

Jang Shin Young's decision to keep her family together garnered attention. Shin Dong Yup asked her, "Was there a decisive moment that made you choose to protect your family?"

She replied, *"It was because of my children. Looking back now, I don’t regret my choice. My second son is still very young and needs the solid support of both parents. That’s what drove my decision."*

She also mentioned her eldest son, "My oldest is a second-year high school student. Many people were worried about him. We went to the Han River together, and I told him, 'This is what happened, but I hope you can trust me and wait. I’ll be honest with you, so for now, don’t look at or listen to anything else, just focus on me.' My son said he would wait for me. As a parent, I felt incredibly sorry for having to talk to him about this, but I thought being honest was better than hiding it. After everything was resolved, I explained to him step by step why I made the decisions I did and how I chose to keep our family together. It was hard and might have seemed harsh, but he eventually understood and accepted it. He told me, 'Mom, I support you, but I need some time,' which moved me deeply."

Previously, it was revealed that Kang Kyung Joon had been accused in a lawsuit for being the third party in an affair. Regarding this, Jang Shin Young said, "My husband and I have talked a lot. He’s reflected and felt guilt countless times. It was an incredibly painful time, but we decided to live on as a family for the sake of our children," expressing her forgiveness toward Kang Kyung Joon.
