Internet broadcaster BJ Se-ya (real name Park Dae-se, 35) indicted for drug use.
On October 9th KST, the legal community reported that the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Violent Crimes Investigation Division indicted BJ Se-ya (real name Park Dae-se) on October 7th on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic drugs).
Park is accused of receiving narcotics from BJ Kim Gang-pae (real name Kim Jae-wang, 33), a YouTuber and former gang member, and using them multiple times with acquaintances at his residence last year.
Following initial reports, Park explained on his channel’s message board in August, stating, “I confessed and went to the police a year and a half ago. Since then, I’ve been cooperating fully with the investigation. I haven’t done anything bad since, and [taking drugs] is the biggest regret of my life.”
However, in August, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Park, which was granted by Judge Shin Young-hee of the Seoul Central District Court, citing concerns of flight risk.
Park was subsequently detained on September 20th and sent to the prosecution. The indictment followed on October 7th.
Meanwhile, Kim, who provided the drugs to Park, was indicted on September 10th on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes Act.
