The spin-off of the popular drama series ‘Stranger,’ titled ‘Good or Bad Dongjae,’ unveiled.

The much-anticipated spin-off of the popular drama series ‘Stranger,’ titled ‘Good or Bad Dongjae,’ has finally been unveiled.

On September 4 KST, the production team of the TVING original series ‘Good or Bad Dongjae’ (directed by Park Gun Ho, created by Lee Soo Yeon, written by Hwang Ha Jung and Kim Sang Won, produced by Studio Dragon, Ace Factory, and High Ground, distributed by TVING) released a teaser trailer announcing the fiery return of Seo Dong Jae, played by Lee Joon Hyuk.

‘Good or Bad Dongjae’ follows the intense survival story of prosecutor Seo Dong Jae, who wants to escape his past as a “sponsored prosecutor” and be recognized in the present. Having survived hell, Seo Dong Jae faces a fierce mudslinging battle with Nam Wan Sung, the CEO of Ihong Construction, played by Park Sung Woong, who unearths the mistakes Seo Dong Jae wishes to forget. The showdown between these two characters promises to deliver thrilling entertainment.

The news of a spin-off of ‘Stranger,’ a series that set a new benchmark in the genre, has generated significant buzz. The fact that the protagonist is the character Seo Dong Jae, who was both annoying and endearing throughout the original series, has fans even more excited.

The series is created by writer Lee Soo Yeon, who wrote both seasons of ‘Stranger.’ With Park Gun Ho directing and writers Hwang Ha Jung and Kim Sang Won, who have previously worked with Lee Soo Yeon on the ‘Stranger’ series, the spin-off is expected to maintain a high level of quality.

The teaser trailer raises expectations for the return of Seo Dong Jae, a character who is sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always endearingly pathetic. The teaser shows Seo Dong Jae triumphantly returning, with the tagline, “Veteran prosecutor, back from hell.”

However, despite his grand comeback, he is seen failing yet again to get promoted to chief prosecutor, hinting at the continued struggles in his career. His reaction, shouting in frustration in an elevator before quickly composing himself with a sly smile, is sure to delight viewers.

The trailer also showcases Seo Dong Jae’s trademark flattery, as he humorously claims, “Even when the chief rolls a bowling ball backwards, it’s still a strike.” Yet, all that lands on Seo Dong Jae’s plate are insignificant cases. The appearance of Nam Wan Sung, the CEO who makes Seo Dong Jae’s blood boil, a junior prosecutor ready to stab him in the back, and someone secretly requesting “Kill Seo Dong Jae,” all suggest a tumultuous journey ahead for the character.

But Seo Dong Jae is not one to go down easily. His declaration, “So this is what it feels like to be the protagonist,” hints at the challenges he will face in the upcoming episodes, leaving viewers curious about the events he will encounter.

The TVING original series ‘Good or Bad Dongjae’ is set to premiere on October 10 KST.
