Red Velvet’s Yeri takes on her first movie challenge with ‘Next’.
The film 'Next' (directed by Son Dong Wan) is a mystery horror that revolves around a group of school friends who participate in a séance, summoning spirits, and the ensuing supernatural events.
Yeri has been cast as the lead character, Park Ja Young, and began filming on September 9 KST. Her character, Park Ja Young, is the responsible class president of 3rd grade, 5th class, who joins the séance in a desperate attempt to uncover the whereabouts of her missing sister. As eerie occurrences begin to unfold, she fights for her classmates’ survival, leading the suspenseful story.
As a member of Red Velvet, Yeri has gained immense love from global fans through her music, but she has also demonstrated her acting abilities in projects such as 'Mint Condition' and 'Blue Birthday'. Her recent role in 'BITCH X RICH' showcased her stable acting skills and charismatic charm, raising further anticipation for her movie debut.
Yeri expressed her excitement, saying, “I’ve always been interested in the horror genre, and I’m thrilled to take on this challenge. It’s my first time appearing in a film since my debut, so I’m both nervous and excited. I’ll work hard with the director, staff, and fellow actors to create a great piece of work.”
Directed by emerging filmmaker Son Dong Wan, known for short films 'Cabinet' and 'I Heard You', 'Next' is drawing attention for its intense horror theme of séances, with its release highly anticipated due to Yeri’s involvement.
