On September 1, EXO member and solo artist D.O. (Doh Kyung Soo) triumphs in his first fan concert tour as a solo artist. The tour, aptly titled 'BLOOM,' commenced last June with a two-day event in Seoul, spanning a total of 12 cities and concluding with a two-day full-house show in the Philippines (presented by Wilbros Live).
Cheers for D.O. echoed throughout the venue as the artist made his grand entrance, surprising the fans with his soothing vocal prowess and his new haircut. "My hair has become short, right? You were the first ones to see it," he said, saying that it's "kind of neat" at the moment. However, it will be a different one once everyone sees his upcoming drama.
Following his performance of "Mars," D.O. sat down with the host for a Q&A session. Starting with a question, "If you were a flower, which one would you be?" D.O. answered that he would want to bloom like a very red rose in a very hot summer. "With the passion [of my fans], that's what I thought of right now."
Before making him pick between two food choices, the artist expressed his love for food. "I really love food. To explain how I love food, you know, it's not a joke, I can gain 10 kg of weight," he said. "I really love it so much."
D.O. revealed that he would choose eating chicken drumsticks over chicken wings "because it has a lot of fats in it." He added, "Chicken wings are also very great but I prefer drumsticks more."
On eating tropical fruits vs. drinking tropical fruits, D.O. said he likes eating fruits raw rather than making juices out of them. Between spending a year without eating perilla oil bibimbap or a year without eating ramyeon, D.O. answered the former, adding that it was "easy" to choose between the two.
"Meat!" the singer when asked whether he would eat meat or fish for seven days a week. "Yes, I do love fish as well, but I think it's easier to eat meat for seven days." On eating Korean food without kimchi vs. without rice, D.O. noted that he cannot handle eating Korean food without rice. "Carbohydrates are a must, right?" he added.
"I think I'll go for Jollibee because there are more options in Jollibee," said D.O. when asked to pick between Jollibee and Halo-halo. The artist also unhesitantly answered beer when asked between beer after swimming or mango juice made with fresh mangoes: "Beer! It's not even comparable. It's beer."
Diving into his acting career, D.O. shared one of his memorable moments shooting the film 'The Moon': "You can't have the actual experience of going to space or moon. The hardest part was to express the zero gravity. I watched a lot of documentaries, so I can copy the gestures. I think that the staff who were in charge of the wires were the ones who put a lot of effort into us. I just had fun hanging on the wire. The guys who were pulling the wire... They were the ones having a hard time."
Hinting at his upcoming project, D.O. spoiled that his character is "a very great villain," adding that it's his first time doing such a role. "I cannot expose the content of the drama, but he's a very very bad person," he said.
In 2012, the global boy group EXO debuted. Fast forward to 2024, the members are now pursuing their solo endeavors, but they're still one. "You guys are amazing. We spent 12 years together, spending a lot of very precious time with you. It gives me the thought of time flying so fast." During the fan concert, D.O. also sang some EXO songs, including "The First Snow" and "Lotto," among others.
He then continued serenading the crowd with his impressive vocal performances of "I Do," "Ordinary Days," "Somebody," "Popcorn," and more.
"I've never imagined that the Philippines will be this passionate. I'm feeling great right now," said D.O. "Because you came here to see me, I'd like to say thank you so much. For today that you have decided to see me tonight, I hope this could make great memories for you too. I think it will be a great memory for me too."
"I'm loving this moment. I would like to say that I appreciate you so much that you guys are singing along very well. I hope you always smile... This happy moment and atmosphere... For my next visit, I'll make sure to prepare a setlist where you're going to be like, 'I wanna go home already'," he said, drawing laughter from the audience.
"Thank you. You waited for so long, right? I'm sorry. I'll be back very soon. I'll keep telling myself and come back, so wait for me," he told the fans. "You have a lot of good food, I'm quite envious of you guys. and thank you for preparing the video for me."
