NewJeans’ fanbase, ‘Bunnies,’ has delivered a second open letter urging leadership changes at ADOR amid the recent controversy surrounding the company’s management and Min Hee Jin’s dismissal.
On September 11th KST, 11,475 Bunnies members sent the letter to Lee Jae Sang, HYBE’s new CEO, and ADOR’s current board, including CEO Kim Joo Young. The letter emphasized that based on a court ruling, Min Hee Jin is entitled to her position as ADOR’s CEO for five years from the company’s establishment. They also voiced concerns over NewJeans’ future activities, citing uncertainties regarding album production and their world tour plans since the appointment of HYBE’s Kim Joo Young, who lacks entertainment industry experience.
Bunnies stated, “Min Hee Jin’s removal is an act of HYBE’s overreach, and it is damaging NewJeans’ music and activities. The entertainment industry is not merely about producing and selling goods—it grows through active interaction and communication with fans.” They questioned the vision and strategy of the current leadership, especially in light of a breakdown in trust with key collaborators like director Shin Woo Seok of Dolphin Kidnapper.
The fanbase expressed fears that any changes under the current management would be met with distrust and could damage NewJeans’ artistic direction. They stressed, “We only wish for NewJeans to continue creating and performing music happily in a supportive environment. Do not treat the artists as mere intellectual property, and do not treat fans as mere consumers.”
Bunnies demanded several actions, including:
1. Prioritizing NewJeans members’ opinions on matters related to their activities.
2. Ensuring Min Hee Jin remains as CEO until the agreed date in 2026, allowing NewJeans to focus on their music and activities without disruption.
3. Protecting NewJeans members from defamation, privacy breaches, and harmful digital practices such as deepfakes, with legal action if necessary.
This follows an instance where NewJeans publicly voiced support for Min Hee Jin during a recent award ceremony.
Earlier, HYBE replaced Min Hee Jin as CEO of ADOR, appointing Kim Joo Young in her place. However, Min Hee Jin has contested her dismissal, labeling it a unilateral decision. She also rejected an unfair offer to remain as a producer under a temporary contract, citing problematic clauses. Min Hee Jin’s team described her dismissal as a violation of the shareholder agreement and a breach of a court ruling prohibiting the exercise of certain voting rights.
