‘Prince of Palm Oil’ Lee Jang Woo takes on a new challenge in TV show.
Lee Jang Woo is set to showcase a new MBC variety show titled ‘Village Life with Lee Jang Woo’, premiering this November.
‘Village Life with Lee Jang Woo’ follows the actor as he spends four seasons living alongside neighbors in a rural village, working to transform an abandoned local brewery into a new hotspot.
Known for his love of eating and cooking, Lee Jang Woo embarks on a life-changing challenge in Jeolla Province, a region famous for its food. As a self-proclaimed food expert, he is personally involved in creating a makgeolli (traditional Korean rice wine) brand and developing the perfect side dishes to open a restaurant.
Since last spring, Lee Jang Woo has dedicated himself to perfecting the makgeolli and menu against the backdrop of the Gimje Plains. After many attempts, he has finally crafted the ideal combination of makgeolli and dishes, which will be unveiled on each episode of ‘Village Life with Lee Jang Woo.’ The fresh menu items and tasteful combinations are expected to make viewers’ mouths water.
Lee Jang Woo’s down-to-earth charm is poised to captivate viewers of all ages. His warm chemistry with the local elderly residents, whose average age is 80, will be a major highlight of the show.
In the program, Lee Jang Woo is fully immersed in village life—helping with farming, learning the secrets of making kimchi, and sharing meals with the residents. His cooking skills have received rave reviews from the locals, who praised his dishes, saying, “It’s not easy to create flavors like this,” and “He’s a great cook.” Their curiosity about his recipes has heightened anticipation for Lee Jang Woo’s performance on the show.
MBC commented, “‘Village Life with Lee Jang Woo’ combines Lee Jang Woo’s genuine love for cooking with his passion for revitalizing a quiet rural village. It promises to deliver heartfelt laughter and touching moments this holiday season. Additionally, special guest appearances from Lee Jang Woo’s close friends, who have never been seen on TV before, will come to help him in his efforts to revive this disappearing village.”
