K-pop icon Jennie of BLACKPINK, who is also a successful solo artist, is set to make her solo comeback after a year-long break.
On September 9th, her agency OA Entertainment (ODDATELIER) announced that Jennie has signed a partnership with Columbia Records, one of the major U.S. record labels, and will release a new solo single in October.
Columbia Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment, is home to global superstars such as Beyoncé, Adele, and Harry Styles. The label has promised comprehensive support for Jennie's solo activities, heightening anticipation for her return.
This upcoming solo single will be Jennie's first release since her special single 'You & Me', which was released in October of last year.
Jennie has had immense success on the global stage. Last year, her collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the track 'One Of The Girls' surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify and maintained a spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart for 20 consecutive weeks. Jennie also became the first Korean female solo artist to receive a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for this achievement.
Adding to her list of milestones, Jennie's solo track 'SOLO' reached over 1 billion views on YouTube in April, making her the first K-pop female solo artist to achieve this feat.
OA Entertainment commented, "Given Jennie's proven musicality across various genres, we ask fans to look forward to this upcoming solo comeback."
