Former Super Junior member Kangin recently had his first profile photoshoot in 10 years as he gears up to return to official promotions.
On August 29th, Kangin’s YouTube channel released a video titled “Profile Photoshoot After 10 Years.”
Appearing in a neat and polished look, Kangin explained why he invited his YouTube production team, saying, "If I keep showing myself just eating sundae soup in alleyways, people might underestimate me. Since I had a profile photoshoot today, I thought it would be good to share it.
After discussing the concept with the photographer, Kangin began the photoshoot. Reflecting on the experience, he said, "It feels awkward because I didn't do photoshoots alone before," sharing his thoughts on having his first profile photoshoot in a decade. After the shoot, Kangin carefully selected his favorite photos, saying, "There are so many pictures I like." Looking at his own poses, he jokingly commented, "I can't stand it," but also added, "My family will probably like it," expressing satisfaction with the results.
Kangin debuted with Super Junior in 2005. However, he paused his entertainment activities after incidents including a DUI and assault controversy in October 2009, another DUI hit-and-run in May 2016, and allegations of assaulting his girlfriend, along with skipping mandatory military reserve training. He eventually left the group in 2019.
"Two DUIs, one of which was a hit-and-run, two assaults, and habitual absence from military reserve training—shouldn’t someone like that be never appear on TV again? I think it’s because the punishments were too lenient."
"There was a hit-and-run involved with one of the DUIs? Wow, he definitely shouldn’t be on TV."
"If he had been humble when he was at the peak of his popularity, he could have gone much further."
"What is there for him to really do though?"
"Shout it out: Kang! In! Gu! (Jail Kangin)."
"Any agency that would take someone like that just to make money should be boycotted, along with all their talent. That’s the only way to prevent people like him from making a comeback. Tsk tsk."
