Kanye West’s recent listening party “Vultures Listening Experience in Korea” has been making waves online ever since photos of the event were revealed. It was discovered that multiple notable K-pop celebrities were in attendance at the event, including members of 2NE1, aespa, TREASURE, and NewJeans.
The NewJeans members who attended the concert (Minji, Danielle, and Hanni) were also later photographed in a VIP area, conversing with CL and Minzy.
However, due to Kanye West’s controversial past and history of antisemitism, the appearance of these idols at his listening party has quickly become an inflammatory topic online.
In particular, NewJeans’ presence at the concert is now a popular topic of discussion. Many netizens are excited about the possibility of a collaboration between Kanye and NewJeans, or simply admiring the NewJeans’ members’ taste in music as they appear to enjoy the concert. Other netizens are criticizing NewJeans for attending the listening party, and questioning whether the members themselves chose to attend or if they were encouraged to do so.
“Ugh… I hate this… why did these kids go to this event…”
“Why do people hate Kanye so much?”
“NewJeans going to a Kanye concert… it’s really not good…”
“Everyone is only criticizing NewJeans even though so many other female idols went too”
“Is going to a Kanye concert a crime or something?”
“They probably only went so they could study his music”
“The reason why people are criticizing NewJeans out of all the idols who attended, is because only Bunnies bragged about NewJeans going to Kanye’s concert like it was an accomplishment. Other idols’ fandoms kept their mouths shut”
“I hate Kanye so much”
“Wow, NewJeans are so disappointing…going to a Kanye concert…”
“Why in the world did NewJeans go to a Kanye concert? We can’t get the Eras Tour in Korea even though we all want it, but we can get a stupid Kanye concert??”
“I can see how it’s possible that NewJeans went to the concert without knowing about everything Kanye’s done, but I’m worried that they did know… It’s even more heartbreaking that 3 of them went”
