Jung Jae Yong (51), a member of the legendary 90s K-pop group DJ DOC, recently shared his struggles, including his divorce and financial difficulties, leaving a deep impression on viewers.
On the August 1 episode of Channel A's 'Daddy's Blooming Day,' Jung Jae Yong revealed the reasons behind his decision to divorce after four years of marriage. He cited economic hardships and feelings of inadequacy as major factors. "The difficult times due to COVID-19 and the lack of economic activity led to feelings of inadequacy, which pushed me to insist on the divorce. It was entirely my fault," Jung confessed.
Despite the divorce, he expressed ongoing feelings of guilt and responsibility towards his ex-wife and daughter.
Jung Jae Yong’s current living situation also shocked many viewers. He revealed that he is living in a small room provided by his agency and continues to suffer from pneumonia, which he contracted during the early stages of COVID-19. His right lung is reportedly 80% damaged.
Amidst these challenges, Jung Jae Yong continues to smoke more than a pack of cigarettes a day, consume five packets of coffee mix at once, and eat snacks on an empty stomach, causing concern among the show's viewers. Seeing this, host Kim Gu Ra said that is a lifestyle that some college kid in their twenties would do and showed his concern for Jung Jae Yong.
Jung Jae Yong also disclosed his struggle with alcohol dependence, driven by his longing for his daughter. He mentioned that he consumes up to three bottles of soju in one sitting. In a heartbreaking scene, he was shown selling soju bottles at a nearby convenience store to exchange for money and even buying on credit when he ran out of funds.
