"‘Victory’ is really fun, but it hasn’t been chosen by many, so I’m a bit upset."
Girl's Day member and actress Hyeri continues to promote the film ‘Victory’ with unwavering enthusiasm.
On August 21st, Hyeri shared several photos on her Instagram, along with the caption, "Hi, I'm Lee Hyeri. I don't get tired." In the photos, Hyeri can be seen holding up a promotional sign for the movie ‘Victory’, with the phrase "Urgently recruiting people to watch ‘Victory’" catching the eye.
‘Victory’ tells the story of the "Millennium Girls," a cheerleading club filled with passion despite their lack of experience. The movie is a lively depiction of their efforts to cheer everyone on with exciting dance routines and popular songs. In the film, Hyeri takes on the role of Chu Pil Seon, a passionate dancer and aspiring professional, delivering a heartfelt performance.
Previously, Hyeri was moved to tears during the press screening of ‘Victory’ after hearing praise for the film. She expressed her deep connection to the project, saying, "This is the first time I've cried while watching my own work. Although I didn't live in that era, it felt like it was pulling out memories of my own past. It's a work I want to revisit even after time has passed."
However, since its release, ‘Victory’ has not garnered as much audience attention as anticipated. The film opened in 5th place at the box office, attracting 36,258 viewers on its first day. A week after its release, Victory’ has failed to see a significant increase in viewership, with cumulative attendance hovering around 220,000. With a break-even point estimated at 2 million viewers, ‘Victory’ is facing a potential box office struggle.
