Actress and EXID member Hani has stepped down from the upcoming variety show she was scheduled to appear in.
On August 20 KST, a representative from JTBC4's 'Review N Cut' confirmed to News1, "Hani has voluntarily withdrawn from the program."
'Review N Cut' is an observational variety show where the hosts provide honest reviews after directly experiencing trending products, from "word-of-mouth items" to "sold-out must-haves" and "value-for-money products." Hani had been selected as one of the MCs alongside Seungyeon, Uee, Yura, and Baekho.
Hani’s decision to step down appears to be influenced by the controversy surrounding her fiancé, psychiatrist and broadcaster Yang Jae Woong. The couple has been openly dating since 2022 and was set to marry in September. However, there were rumors of the wedding being postponed following the revelation of an incident in May, where a 36-year-old woman died 17 days after being admitted to the psychiatric hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, where Yang serves as director.
The woman's cause of death was suspected to be "pseudo-obstruction." The bereaved family claimed, "It was obvious that her stomach was unusually swollen, and she should have been taken to the hospital, but she was tied up in a private room and only given medication until the moment she died."
On July 29 KST, Yang Jae Woong addressed the situation through his agency, Mystic Story, stating, "The incident occurred at the hospital where I serve as director, and I take this matter very seriously. The hospital is fully cooperating with external agencies by providing medical records, CCTV footage of the situation, and more." He added, "Both myself and the entire medical team will fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation and will fulfill our responsibilities based on medical and legal judgments."
Meanwhile, 'Review N Cut', from which Hani has withdrawn, was initially set to air on August 12 KST but has been postponed to its new premiere date on September 2 KST.
