Fabien, a French Youtuber currently in Paris as a special commentator for SBS at the 2024 Paris Olympics, candidly shared his feelings about receiving a flood of malicious comments.
On August 6 KST, Fabien released a video titled "Crazy Live Reactions to An Se Young's Gold Medal, the Shuttlecock Queen" on his personal channel.
In the video, Fabien discussed the various issues and reactions surrounding him related to the Paris Olympics.
He started by saying, "It’s been 10 days since the Olympics started. I’ve experienced the PyeongChang Olympics before, but going through the Summer Olympics has been so much fun. The French athletes are doing well, and the Korean athletes are doing well too, so this Olympics is really exciting."
He continued, "As a French person living in Korea, one of the most interesting things is the Korea-France matches. In my 16 years of living in Korea, I’ve never seen so many of these matchups. I think the last time was during the 2002 World Cup, but now it feels like it’s happening every day."
He humorously added, "People's reactions include a lot of malicious comments. It didn’t really bother me," and with a cheerful laugh, he explained, "Honestly, as a French person who’s lived in Korea for a long time, loving Korea is the same as loving France. So, no matter who wins, I don’t feel sad or happy—it's a bit of a mixed emotion."
Previously, Fabien received a barrage of malicious comments after the Paris Olympics opening ceremony Paris Olympics official commentator mistakenly introduced the South Korean team as being from North Korea.
He explained, "When I got home, I saw that my social media, email, and comments sections were flooded with hate messages. Since the Olympics are being held in my home country, I’ve been getting a lot of flak for it."
