Go Young Wook, convicted of sexual assault, launches YouTube channel
Go Young Wook who was convicted of sexual assault involving minors, has launched a YouTube channel.
On August 5 KST, Go Young Wook opened a YouTube channel titled “Go! Young-wook.”
The channel currently has one video uploaded, titled “Fresh.” The 3-minute and 40-second video features what appears to be Go Young Wook's pet dog. He does not appear in the video.
On August 4 KST, Go Young Wook posted on his social media, stating, “I’ve lived a shameful life. I feel like I’m wasting away at home, so I’m starting YouTube without much planning to break out of my lethargic routine. Please take care in this hot weather,” hinting at his upcoming YouTube activities.
In 2020, Go Young Wook had previously opened a social media account, stating, “I’ve spent nearly nine years in isolation and can’t continue like this. I want to cautiously start communicating with the world again.” However, due to a backlash, he closed the account.
Go Young Wook was convicted of sexually assaulting and molesting three minors on four occasions between July 2010 and December 2012 at his apartment and in his car. In December 2013, he was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and was ordered to wear an electronic ankle monitor for three years, becoming the first celebrity in South Korea to receive this order. He was released in July 2015 and has not resumed any broadcasting activities since.
